We just watched Ghost Town, in which (surprise!) Bertram Pincus (the main character) can see and hear ghosts. So he talks to them and of course in various scenes he gets funny looks.
All he need do is wear a bluetooth headset. It doesn’t even have to be turned on. Everyone will just find him annoying, not nutty.
House did that in an episode where he was talking to his hallucinations, I think. Once the earbuds get smaller or go pure bone conduction we’re going to need some kind of social signal to indicate the presence of one so people don’t think we’re talking to ourselves walking around. Or doing so might just become normal, I guess. It’d be kind of annoying, though, as it would be difficult to distinguish the target of a comment or question if you happened to be nearby someone wearing one without any kind of indicator.
